Fender Highway One Stratocaster HSS guitar?
I was looking at guitars last weekend and ended up playing a Fender Highway One Strat HHS.
Anybody on here play one? I really liked the guitar and was thinking about buying it. How well do they hold up to everyday playing? Also the action seemed a little high to me. Is that a normal characteristic for a Strat? Can I ask to have the tech lower the action without getting a lot of fret buzz? Also is it fairly easy to change electronics in this guitar. In other words hot rod it.
The action was about the same as my acoustic guitar. Which I thought was a little high for an electric. The PUPS sounded pretty good for stock. But as with everything else I'll most likely get the bug to upgrade and experiment.
Yes, they are great guitars. Highway-Ones are American made. You can't find an American Guitar any more affordable than that, except a faded-finish SG Special or a faded-finish Les PAul Studio when they happen to be on sale at GC. They hold up excellently to every day playing. Better than most guitars. The pickups aren't low-line stock. Fender makes very god pickups... better than Dimarzio or SD in my opinion. They are un upgrade from Standard MIM Strats, and are the same ones as American Standards, I believe. The action can be adjusted, as on all Strats. Never base your buying decisions on a factory set-up. It's easy to change the electronics, that's why so many pro's play Strats. Although make sure you're carefulk exactly whaty you put in it. If you decide to sell it later, non-Fender items will lower it's value. f you're intent on changing the pickups, there are lots of great pickups that you can hot-rod a strat with. Seymour Duncan Hot Rails seem to work best.
