Help with Red Parrots, Electric Yellow Lab, and Mainganos?
Can you help me figure out whats the difference between the sex of a male and female Red Parrot, Electric Yellow Lab, and a Mainganos fish?
Your Maingano fish are monomorphic, meaning that the male and females look the same so there is no way for sure of knowing if it is a male or female. The only way that is not always garanteed is that the males will have thicker black stripes than the females.
Now with the Red Parrot, do you mean Blood Parrot, if so there are only a few ways to tell. The female's egg tube will appear immediately prior to the spawning ensues. The male, once in breeding condition, may show pink coloration in his throat and gill cover regions.
For the Electric Yellow labs, they too are monomorphic, but like the Maingano's the only ungaranteed way of telling is the black stripe. The males top fin will be almost fully black and also the bottom fins will be almost all black. But this is not a garanteed way of telling.
